lot of people seem to get headphones
and headsets mixed up. Headphones
have earpieces and are mainly used for listening to
music. Headsets have earpieces (or a single earpiece
depending on the style) plus a microphone and are
used for improving communications (both listening
and talking) on the phone, computer, air traffic control
console, and so on.
Headsets
are for listening to music, playing video games, using
speech recognition technology, talking to the tower
on runway 27R as well as calling your mom while you
do the dishes. Headsets give you freedom to do something
else with your hands while you communicate. They make
talking on a cell phone in a car a lot safer.
